…There we go.
…There we go.
I have woken up with this song in my head twice this week. I’m not complaining either. It’s a little known fact that Huey Lewis and the News was my first concert ever, at the age of 6ish. I think I was dragged to Raffi prior to that, but that didn’t count because I hated Raffi. Huey Lewis was my first concert of my choosing.
I also like this because it makes me think of the song “Hip to be Square,” which in turn makes me think of the Sesame St. spoof, “Hip to be a Square.” Happy associations all around.
NEWS FLASH: Hanson is now making beer- “MmmHops IPA”
I’m getting married. We have been engaged for just over a year and will be married in just under a year. When I first got the ring, I signed up for every online marriage/bride thing imaginable. I just didn’t know where to start. The Knot is less intrusive than a lot of other bloggy things, but also less helpful. Sometimes they have pictures of things that I like or want, but their tips are junk. They tend to be based on 100 year old etiquette (which sometimes I like, but hand calligraphing every invite is just silly), or on the crappy trends that all 20-somethings are after.
They recently sent out an article about “Best New Wedding Songs” or something. They were all terrible and could fit into 3 categories: 1.) Poorly written songs with ‘romantic’ lyrics, 2.) Songs that are topping the alt-rock charts, but will make a normie feel unique and quirky, 3.) Black Eyed Peas. And then, they all have these little tags of “who will like it,” and “when to play it.” Who will like it: The people we felt obligated to invite. When to play it: When I am out of the room.
My guy is doing all of the DJing at our wedding. From the moment I found that out, I had one song in mind that NEEDED to be played. That was the Lido Shuffle.
Tis the season- for a bunch of barking dogs to sing Jingle Bells. What kills me is that I didn’t come up with this idea first. Jingle Bells is the only song that ever gets any airplay, but these dogs have a full-length holiday album. I know this because I actually know people who own it. More specifically, I had a college roommate who owned it. She used to get up really early everyday for no reason, and on some days would try to find the perfect song to wake me up with. This one came on at 6:00am one day and I lost it. Man, I miss college sometimes.
